In July 2024, the decision was made to separate the Pan-Dorset Safeguarding Children’s Partnership into two partnerships; one covering the Dorset Council area and the other covering the Bournemouth Christchurch and Poole (BCP) area. Each Safeguarding Children Partnership has a statutory responsibility as set out in the Working Together to Safeguard Children guidance (2023) for leadership and multi-agency co-ordination of “arrangements to work together to safeguard and promote the welfare of children”
However, the following activity has been agreed to continue as Pan-Dorset functions:
- Multi-Agency Safeguarding Training
- Child Death Overview Panel
- Core Safeguarding Procedures based on national guidance Pan-Dorset Multi-Agency Safeguarding Policies and Procedures Manual (proceduresonline.com). The local procedures and pathways that you can find here will be either for the BCP Safeguarding Children Partnership, the Dorset Safeguarding Children Partnership or Pan-Dorset and these will be clearly marked for each procedure.
