Dorset Safeguarding Children Partnership

In July 2024, the decision was made to separate the Pan-Dorset Safeguarding Children’s Partnership into two partnerships; one covering the Dorset Council area and the other covering the Bournemouth Christchurch and Poole (BCP) area.

Each Safeguarding Children Partnership has a statutory responsibility as set out in the Working Together to Safeguard Children guidance (2023) for leadership and multi-agency co-ordination of “arrangements to work together to safeguard and promote the welfare of children”.

The website has been re-structured into sections for each Safeguarding Children Partnership. For information from the Dorset Safeguarding Children Partnership please click here. For information from the BCP Safeguarding Children Partnership please click here.

There is some activity that will remain as Pan-Dorset and this includes the multi-agency child safeguarding training offer, our core safeguarding policies and procedures based on national guidance and our child death review process. For information on the Pan-Dorset activity please click here.

Booking training

Booking a place

All PDSCP safeguarding courses are available for booking on Dorset Nexus, a self-service booking platform.

Nexus

Each organisation must be set up as a site on Nexus, and every delegate must have their individual Nexus account to access our training. This is free and can be done via the Sign Up page on the Nexus website.

All Nexus accounts should be set up as ‘users’ (as opposed to non-users) to enable delegates access to their booking confirmations, materials, invite links, evaluation forms and certificates.

 Allocation of places

Places are allocated on a first come, first served basis. You should be able to see if there are spaces available, or if you need to, you can add your name to the waiting list.

Once a booking is made on Nexus, it is classed as a reserved place and is therefore, subject to a cancellation charge regardless of whether the place has been ‘checked out of the basket’ or authorised.

Delegates have a 48 hour ‘cooling off period’ after booking in which to cancel their place without charge.

Confirmation will be sent out electronically via Dorset Nexus upon checking the item out of the shopping basket. Please note that delegates are advised to get managers’ authorisation prior to making an application for a place on Nexus.

Any unconfirmed places will be ‘checked out’ by the PDSCP Training Team 2 weeks before the training course date.

Charity Places

If you are a small or micro registered charity (including not for profit) with less than £100k turnover per annum and you are working with children, young people or families in Dorset, you may be eligible for a free place on our PDSCP Initial Safeguarding Level 3 and PDSCP Update Safeguarding Level 3 courses. Places are limited and must be agreed with the training team before booking. Please refer to the Charity Form on our Resources page on Nexus Pan-Dorset Safeguarding Children Partnership | Dorset Nexus.

Waiting List

Any cancellation is offered to the waiting list first, and the space is allocated to the first person who replies to the email.

If you accept the place from a waiting list, please ensure that any future booking(s) for the same course is (are) cancelled immediately as you will incur full charges. Please refer to the PDSCP cancellation Policy.

Cancellation Charges

In line with PDSCP Training Cancellation Policy, non-attendance and late cancellations (made within 28 days of the course date) will incur full charges. However, you have the option of nominating a replacement to fill your space on the course. (YOU MUST contact the training team via pan-dorsetscptraining@dorsetcouncil.gov.uk to AGREE this in advance of the training).

For free training, an admin fee for non-attendance and cancellations made within 14 days of the course date will be applied.

Before you proceed with your booking, please read our cancellation policy for full details.

Course Evaluation and Certificate

It can take up to two weeks from the course date for the course register to be marked and uploaded to Nexus.

Once the register has been marked, Nexus will email you asking for course feedback. Please take the time to fill this in so performance and relevance can be monitored and reviewed.

Once your feedback is submitted, a link to download your certificate will be made available.
